What is Urology?
Urology is a surgical specialty which deals with diseases of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs. Although urology is classified as a surgical specialty, knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and other specialties is required by the urologist because of the wide variety of clinical problems encountered.
What is a Urologist?
A Urologist is a physician who has completed both an internship in General Surgery as well as a Residency in Urologic surgery. A board certified Urologist must successfully complete the required written and oral exams given by the American Board of Urology and maintain his/her certification through a series of continuing education requirements and periodic exams. Our physicians at Central Texas Urology are experienced in both the medical treatment and surgical correction of all urinary system disorders.
